e-Flora of Jammu & Kashmir (North Western Himalyas)
...........................an electronic atlas taxonomic and floristic research in J & K..............
E-Flora significantly aims at building a database encompassing entire flora of J&K in digital domain and to disseminate this knowledge base to the botanists, students and biodiversity community. The concept of Digital Herbarium has gained a worldwide momentum in the recent years as they contain necessary authentic data freely available on the internet for botanists, ecologists and conservationists.
The state of Jammu and Kashmir is endowed with a rich and unique plant diversity confined to different forest types and unique niches distributed in different climatic regimes.
The present e-flora mainly depicts the characters, distribution and ethno-botanical relevance of vascular plants, the most visible of all the plant groups. They are all around us and include those colourful wildflowers, weeds, and garden plants that we are all familiar with, such as wild roses, buttercups, cacti, lupines, dephiniums, daisies, and many many more. All trees, shrubs and herbs included in this page are vascular plants. The exceptions are mosses, liverworts, algae and lichens, which are considered non-vascular plants.
